Teaching and Field School
at James Madison University
With the courses I teach and by other avenues, I create opportunities for students
to learn archaeology by doing archaeology. Hands-on activities range from analyses at the JMU Laboratory of Archaeology to local field projects. The most immersive experience is the summer archaeology field school and since 2014 it has been held at late prehistoric to “contact”
age sites in southern Georgia.
The following galleries give a sense of the student-oriented projects I direct.
